Weekend Workshop (2 days)

Our weekend workshops are taught by Meridian's head sculptor Darien Pullen. Darien is a multidisciplinary artist and educator with years of experience, working as Meridian’s senior mould-maker and wax technician since 1978.

If you've never sculpted before, don't panic! Our weekend workshops are a fantastic way to meet other creatives while working over a cup of tea. Darien is a passionate yet patient tutor, who fosters a relaxed environment where individual expression is encouraged.

Weekend Workshops are held once a month at our Fitzroy foundry and span two days; each session being 3hrs long (2pm - 5pm).

All students will:

· Experience a brief foundry tour and lost-wax overview

· Work at their own pace and skill level on a design of their choosing

· Enjoy a calm, friendly atmosphere where learning is suited to their needs

· Enjoy a cup of tea and a small afternoon treat. If you have any dietary requirements, please let the team know via phone or email.

We recommend:

· It is helpful to come with an idea of what you would like to sculpt. However, this is not necessary. If you have image references, we recommend printing these out rather than relying on a phone.

Students will come out of the workshop with a finished wax sculpture (250mm x 250mm x 250mm max), which they can opt to have cast in bronze for a reduced fee. Please note that the work will be cast and finished by our team of experts. Due to safety, participants will not partake in this process, but will be consulted on the final patination.
