Tammy Kanat
Tammy Kanat’s Bronze work presents a self-reflective trajectory that evolves her practice into the future. Established as a textile artist, Kanat had previously worked for ten years as a jeweller. Seeking to inject a sense of gravity into her practice, Kanat looked to her jewellery heritage and its hard gems and heavy materials. Embarking on the journey through exploration and play, her forms evolved instead into bronze, a solid, weighty antidote to tapestry’s warp and weft wrapped around air. Yet in their rigid form, the bronze castings manifest the gentle qualities of woven fibres and bleeding tones of Kanat’s signature.
Tammy is represented by Gallery Sally Dan-Cuthbert.
